If memory serves, Jason is across the pond. I've got the same situation as you except funner. All court hearings are held in the other big small town in the county and when summoned we're given a list of dates and we have to call in the day before. If our number is called, then we drive to the court house, which for me is a very wonderful and relaxing trip through the back roads in the mountains. Then we spend several hours at the county commissioners office, which is an old converted bar, BS'ing until the sheriff comes by and tells us to go home. Honestly the few times that I've been called the case has gotten settled out of court.
We also can do exemptions. We can call in and actually get all of our dates moved up several months if we need it.
